Mo & Callum on a Christmas Tree Farm

Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the darling couple Mo Wyse & Callum Preston on a christmas tree farm here in the Atlanta area. Mo & Callum live in Seattle and Callum is from Australia. He’s also the incredibly talented designer who I collaborated with to update my branding and logos, (previous post). So while they were here we drove out to Yule Forest in Stockbridge, Ga. and had some fun with trees. Enjoy and Like us on Facebook.

The Neals and Their Chickens

When my family and I relocated to Atlanta from New York City in September one of the first people we met was Brett, his wife Melanie and their brand new son Ephram. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of making some family portraits of them in their backyard in Southeast Atlanta where they have six chickens and an organic garden. Brett and Melanie are good southern people and we’re glad to call them our new friends. Enjoy the pictures. Ephram’s favorite part was the radishes.

Juliet & Elliott – An NYC Original

Juliet and Elliott are old friends of mine from The Times. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph their wedding weekend and it was a blast. It started Friday in Fort Greene where the two live. Then we headed to the New York City courthouse in Manhattan where they tied the knot along with what seemed like at least a thousand other couples that day. The next day Juliet and Elliott had their reception at the Housing Works Bookstore on Crosby Street in SoHo. It was a blast. Check out the pictures! And then Like The Bright Lives page on Facebook!

Atlanta Here We Come!

Exciting but in some ways sad news from The Jones camp today; we are leaving the big city and moving back to the place we called home four years ago before coming to New York. Later this summer, after baby #2 arrives, we’ll be packing up our clothes, furniture, kids and memories and resettling in the amazing southern mecca of Atlanta.

We are extremely excited to reunite with our many good friends in the South but also sad to leave our many friends here in NYC. This was neither an easy nor hasty decision for us. We spent months talking about the pros and cons. In the end our desire to raise our family near friends who themselves are starting families and be closer to family was enough to solidify our decision. To simply live in the South again, where we both feel so much warmth and comfort, will be a much needed change of atmosphere.

Happy Holidays from The Joneses

Well we’re sitting in about two feet of snow here in New York City and while it came a day too late for a white Xmas I still appreciate the effort.

I hope your holidays are filled with love and family and that you take the time to reflect on what’s meaningful in your life. I have already begun my own re-prioritization.

The Joneses wish you a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year.

Each year we put together a fun holiday card. This is the one we sent to friends and family this year.

The Lazaros of Springfield, Va.

Rachel and David Lazaro live in Springfield, Va. with their beautiful daughter Ava. They also happen to be my brother and sister-in-law. The Joneses took a trip down to the D.C. area last weekend to visit and update the Lazaro’s family pictures. The weather was frigid but we were able to endure and catch some nice evening light and special moments before heading back inside to sit by the fire and eat popcorn.

Megan & Jamison Take the Plunge in DUMBO

Megan and Jamison planned their wedding for the weekend before Halloween but they didn’t let that stop them from infusing their wedding celebration with its fun. From the black and red color theme to the wax fangs and inflatable instruments there was never a dull moment. Bright Lives (+ Meghan McInnis) photographed all around DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass for you out-of-towners) on a perfect fall day with beautiful light falling on the Manhattan skyline in the background. If you haven’t been to Galapagos Art Space, it’s a great unique venue right on the water near Fulton Ferry State Park which sits in the shadows of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. I also have to give a shout out to Corvette and Jenn (my wife) from Graceland who rocked the hair for all the ladies. Check out these pictures from Megan and Jamison’s awesome day!

Bikes, Vows, Mountains and Love

Brett and Edie, both serious cyclists from Brooklyn, chose Sugar Hill, NH as the setting for their simple intimate wedding. Friends and family traveled from around the northeast for a weekend of beautiful weather and cycling. A few days after the wedding Brett and Edie flew to Portland where they embarked on a 6 8-week journey on their bikes back to New York City. That’s a hell of a honeymoon! They’re currently about two weeks out. They’ll be updating their blog all along the way at www.kissingwithhelmets.com. Good luck guys.
